Florida VLT limits, the 35% ceramic shade we recommend, and how we keep installs street-legal.

One of the questions we get most is whether window tint is illegal in Florida. The short answer is no — as long as you follow the state limits.
Tint is measured as Visible Light Transmission, or VLT: the percentage of light that passes through film and glass together. Lower numbers mean a darker tint.
For most vehicles Florida allows a minimum of 28% VLT on the front side windows and 15% on the rear sides and back glass. Many SUVs can go darker in the back, down to around 6%. The windshield may only have a non-reflective strip above the AS-1 line.
We usually recommend 35% ceramic. It rejects heat, blocks UV and adds privacy without going too dark, and it stays legal so you are not gambling on a ticket.
Florida also limits reflectivity: 25% on the fronts and 35% on the rears. Mirror films past those numbers, and colored tints like red or blue, are not allowed. A professional install includes the door-jamb sticker that shows the film meets the law.
People with documented light sensitivity can apply for a medical exemption. Everyone else should stay in the published limits. We install film that looks clean and stays compliant on Tampa roads.
